Programme of the Lithuanian fisheries sector 2014-2020

In August 2015, the European Commission adopted the decision regarding the approval of the Lithuanian Fisheries Sector Programme 2014–2020. The budget of the Programme for the new financial period amounts to EUR 81.6 million.

The Lithuanian Fisheries Sector Operational Programme 2014–2020 consists of 22 measures, which are aimed at promoting competitiveness, environmentally sustainable, economically viable and socially responsible fisheries and aquaculture, implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), a balanced and inclusive development of fisheries and aquaculture regions, development and implementation of the European Union’s Integrated Marine Policy in a manner complementary to cohesion policy and to the CFP.

In 2017, applications were collected according to 15 measures, the most popular of which, just like in 2016, was “Protection and restoration of marine biodiversity – compensatory systems for damage caused by sea mammals and birds to catches” with 31 applications received according to this measure. Applicants also found the measures “Productive investments into aquaculture (except for increasing energy consumption efficiency)” and “Productive investments into aquaculture (simplified support)” of interest to them. 11 applications were submitted according to the measure, requesting the support of EUR 4 million and EUR 483 000, respectively, therefor.

A total of 96 applications were received according to the measures of the Operational Programme of the Lithuanian fisheries sector 2014–2020 having disbursed a total of EUR 4.084 million in support in 2017.
